Fila Brazillia

Fila Brazillia was formed in 1991, the union of producers Steve Cobby and Dave McSherry. Cobby worked with Ashley & Jackson, a dance-pop group that enjoyed moderate success in Britain with the label Big Life! But since the seal was asking for more pop and less dance. So Cobby returned to his native Hull leaving Manchester. There he met Dave Brennand Â.k.Â. Porky, head of the Pork Recordings label, who offered to edit a piece heard in a demo, which became the first single from Fila Brazillia, “Mermaids”.

In ten years, the group can boast of being one of the most productive stage of English dance music, with seven albums on the market ( “Old Codes, New Chaos”, “Tahta Maim Tune” and “Black Market Gardening “among them), an incredible collection of singles for Pork and over sixty remixes, for people of the stature of Lamb, The Orb or DJ Food (many of them can be found on the compilation” Brazilification “).

His style has made them champions of the concept of dance music that violates any border styles and walks around all schools, from hip hop to dub, through the breakbeat, trip hop, drum’n ‘ bass, funk, acid jazz, house and even pop.

Steve Cobby is also part of other projects of the Pork label, as Solid Doctor (his solo project) and Heights of Abraham, who also has a few references in the market. But the last major project called Fila Brazillia 23 Records, his own label, with which they have released their latest album to date: “Jump Leads” with which the group intends to definitively leave the underground.
